Entrepreneur Information
Everything you need to know about the programme
What is Project ReMAKE?
Project ReMAKE is a UK-based charity that empowers individuals with convictions and lived experience to rebuild their lives through entrepreneurship. We provide practical business training and connect participants with top universities, industry leaders, and valuable professional networks.
You can find more information and testimonials on our website: www.project-remake.org.uk.
Do I need to have a specific business idea or plan?
No, you don't need to have a well-polished business idea or plan, and it may be that you have a few ideas which can be discussed and expanded on. The aim of the programme is to provide you with business principles which you can apply to your own idea(s) and create a viable business plan and business pitch.
Does it cost anything?
No! Project ReMAKE is a charity and the programme is free, but each place on the course is valued at over £1,500 for each entrepreneur, so it's really important that everyone joining is fully engaged and committed to completing the course.
How much time do I need?
- The course is delivered live online on a Wednesday (2 hours).
- 1-2 hours with your Business Mentor and Student advisors.
- 1-2 hours a week to develop your business idea and apply the new business knowledge that you'll learn in the weekly sessions.
How am I supported?
We have a limited number of places on each course, no more than 30 per programme. You will be supported by the Peer Mentors, Student Advisors, Business Mentors as well as the wider ReMAKE team.
What do I need?
A laptop will be required. If you do not have one, please speak to Project ReMAKE to discuss the options.
You will need Office 365 and if you don't already have it, you can download a web version here.
What will I learn?
Here is an example of the weekly topics of each session:
- Entrepreneur Induction (ReMAKE team and entrepreneurs only)
- Welcome & Intro to Business
- Value Proposition and Lean Start Up
- Customers
- Marketing
- Check in Session, no speaker (Q&A, breakouts, local story)
- Intellectual Property
- Cost Cashflows & Sources of Finance
- AI and Digital Technology
- Pitch your Business (Elevator Pitch)
- Practice Pitch
- No session, refining pitch document
- Graduation Ceremony & Dragons Den Style presentation
Attendance
To go forward to the Graduation and the Dragon's Den presentation, there must be 100% attendance and full engagement with coursework by Entrepreneurs.
Dragon's Den
At the end of the course, some of you will have the opportunity to present your business plan at a 'Dragons' Den' type event. Like the TV programme, there will be a panel of experts (3-4), but in every other way it is quite different. The 'Dragons' in our event are there to advise you on how you may take your idea forward. They will ask a few questions about your plan, but it is always in a completely supportive and constructive manner.
Course Outcomes
We aim to support our course graduates on further training, employment, and to help suggest potential funding possibilities through partnering charities. After the course we will offer employability skills workshops and additional mentoring sessions, if required.
For employment opportunities, we are now partnering with:
- Redemption Roasters – Hospitality
- The Timpsons Group – Retail
- Capgemini – Information technology Company
- Network Rail – Transport
- Sodexo – Catering and hospitality
- Kier Construction – Construction and associated roles (PMs, surveyors etc)
- Your Consultation Group – Over 1000 roles with more than 500 employers in all sectors
These companies offer socially responsible roles, and some have a very wide range of opportunities and varying levels of seniority.
For investment: For those that wish to pursue their business idea, we aim to support with networking, additional training and there may be investment opportunities through partnering charities and organisations (please be aware that the nature of the business idea, commercial viability and amount of money being asked for will have a huge impact on the probability).
